What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade promotes human dignity by paying a fair and livable wage for artisans and
farmers in the developing world. Fair Trade ensures that producers of products are not
exploited and that children are not used in the production of any goods. Fair Trade is
critical to a socially responsible mindset and behavior, making the world a more equitable
and just place for all. The Fair Trade relationship begins with offering the artisans and
farmers a fair and just wage for their labor. A buyer and consumer then pay the true value
of doing business, promoting dignity over profits. The Fair Trade model intends to create
stability for the worker, such as long-term contracts for profits that the producer can count
on. The Fair Trade agreements include training for producers that help them with their
businesses. The artisans are taught how to increase their profits for a better living.

Almost 40% of our products are Fair Trade, not only in our store, but in our on-line
boutique. Most of the items will come with a card giving you detailed background
information about the product, region, or artist.
